This specimen is a complete neolithic hand tool made by humans in North Africa thousands of years ago.

Tools such as these are referred to generically as "hand axes" but they were used for a variety of purposes, such as scraping, cutting, skinning, etc. As the longest-used tool in human history, the hand axe is a connection to humanity's deep past.

While the precise age of these tools is unknown, the advanced techniques used to create these particular tools first originated roughly 30,000 to 40,000 years ago.

The specimen is enclosed in a handsome, glass-topped riker box case measuring 4 1/2" x 3 1/2". A small information card is also included.
