SOLD Cretaceous Era Fossil - Odontochelion & Shrimp 3.93" - Sannine Formation

93 million years ago, prehistoric sea creatures swam in the coastal waters of what is now the Sannine Formation. This limestone deposit in northern Lebanon is a treasure trove of fossil specimens that paleontologists are learning more about each day.

This specimen is a 3.93" showcase Odontochelion fossil. Odontochelion was a genus of shrimp identified by its short, beaklike rostrum. Odontochelion lived in the ocean’s pelagic zone, meaning it was a free swimmer. This specimen also has a small unidentified shrimp embedded alongside the larger fossil. The fossil is estimated to be over 93 million years old and includes a black metal stand and a certificate of authenticity.
