Every specimen in our shop is real, authentic, and unique. We take great care to source our specimens in the most ethical and sustainable manner possible. This includes abiding by local mining and heritage laws around the world.
The products we sell are not replicas or casts, and each specimen or collection comes with our statement of authenticity included.
We know that each of our items will eventually end up as an important part of someone's collection, which is why we make sure to hand select high quality items to ensure everyone gets an amazing specimen. Each item in our shop has been personally inspected by a member of our team.
ℹ️ Each specimen in our collection includes a small information/display card that also serves as the certificate of authenticity. The style of the card varies between different product types. A picture of the card for each item can be found at the bottom of the item's product detail page on our website. If your item is contained in a glass-topped riker box, the description/certification notice appears on the reverse side of the card displayed inside the case.
Mini Museum began as a childhood dream to create and share a collection of all the wonders the world has to offer, a little piece of the entire known universe you could hold in your hand. Over the course of decades, the collection grew to encompass treasures from across all space and time.
When the Mini Museum was introduced to the public in 2014, thousands of people from around the world came together to lend their support. The realization of this life-long dream was humbling, but the journey was far from over.
Over the years, we’ve created new collections and shared the stories of hundreds of objects. Today, more than a million 1,000,000 unique specimens reside with people in more than 120 countries, and each is a story connected to that original dream.
But there is more to the dream than simply sharing objects and their stories. There is also the connection between people and events that have unfolded across the broad expanse of time.
Like the universe itself, every object in every collection is connected to each other. Their stories intertwine, sometimes in fantastical ways. By sharing these objects with other people, we also create opportunities for people to connect with each other as they too share the stories.
How Does Mini Museum Verify Specimens?
Over the years, we've built a global network of experts and sources to ensure everything we offer is a genuine piece of history, be it dinosaur fossils, relics, meteorites, or one of the many other amazing items in our shop. We often travel a great deal to acquire new material directly (always with permission). We also source material from the most renowned auction houses in the world as well as receive donations directly from scientists and specialists from numerous fields of academia.
Once a specimen arrives in our workshop, it undergoes meticulous inspection to verify its authenticity and ensure it meets our standards for a collection.
