White House Brick

White House Brick

Since its construction in 1800, every U.S. president has called the White House home, but the Executive Branch's headquarters has changed quite a lot over the years. Through its near-destruction in the War of 1812, through the massive 1948 retrofitting, the White House has remained an enduring symbol of the country.

This specimen is a piece of brick from the original White House structure, salvaged during the 1948 reconstruction.
