Roman Arrowhead

Roman Arrowhead

Roman archers were an integral part of the fearsome Roman legion and a force to be reckoned with. After a dramatic defeat at Parthia, the empire added such soldiers to their tactics, an example of learning from their foes and early ways of warfare. Wielding arrows tipped with bronze and accurate composite bows, archery was yet another tactic the Romans are said to have perfected.

This specimen includes one bronze arrowhead, dating from the first century, CE. Presented in a glass-topped riker case for easy viewing, this relic struck fear into the hearts of soldiers facing off against the ancient empire.
