The promise of Mini Museum has always been that history, time, and reality are best understood through direct physical contact. Our collections give us all a sense of where we are in the universe. They connect us directly with moments and materials far outside everyday experience. Our newest project, Roll With History specimen-embedded dice, takes this promise a step further.

Unlike our display pieces, dice are meant to be handled again and again. In that sense, they're alive in a way static objects aren't. We're capturing a piece of time itself inside an object designed to be used. This goes beyond our usual realm of observation and adds the dimension of play: the artifact becomes something more than an item to study and becomes a new kind of object you engage with.

This new project is our first partnered crowdfunder. We're teaming up with the premier dice experts at Fanroll to craft nine new dice sets with fossils, meteorites, and even pieces of 15th-century chain mail. Each set contains real, authenticated objects embedded within dice meant to be rolled, handled, and used. The result is a new way of encountering history, where the past is explored through interaction... and that's what Mini Museum is all about.

Every specimen in our shop is real, authentic, and unique. We take great care to source our specimens in the most ethical and sustainable manner possible. This includes abiding by local mining and heritage laws around the world.

The inclusions in these dice are not replicas or casts, and each set comes with our statement of authenticity included.

We know that each die will end up as an important part of someone's collection, which is why we make sure to hand-select high-quality items to ensure everyone gets an amazing specimen. Each specimen used for inclusion has been personally inspected by a member of our team.
