It's Andrea and Jamie from the Mini Museum team with an update on our next public sale! The next public sale for the first edition of the Mini Museum will take place next Wednesday, April 8th at 5PM ET! This will be the last public sale for the first edition of the Mini Museum. We've included a lot of important information in this post and since Mini Museums are in short supply we recommend reading closely!
What To Expect
Those of you who participated in the first sale will recall that we sold out in just a few minutes. We expect this sale to be quick also, but please know that we are providing as many Mini Museums as possible. We've also reordered Printed Companion Guides to provide enough for everyone including original backers and first sale purchasers. The Mini Museum Shop (http://shop.minimuseum.com) will be locked prior to the launch. The lock will be removed promptly at 5PM ET on Wednesday, April 8th. If you are on the site prior to the launch, you will need to refresh your browser in order to see the shop.Additional purchasing information can be found at the end of this email. We highly recommend you review this prior to the sale. Again, we expect to sell out quickly so we are providing as much information up front as possible.
What Will Be Available
ALL acrylic sizes (Small, Medium, and Large) as well as the Touch Mini Museum will be available for purchase. You will be able to purchase any combination of Mini Museums, but we will be limiting orders to one Mini Museum per size. For example, you will be able to purchase a Large and a Touch Mini Museum but you will not be able to purchase two Large Mini Museums.
Printed Companion Guides
The digital version of the Companion Guide is available for free, but you can also own a printed version as well. The printed version of the Companion Guide is white and serves as an excellent backing when displaying an acrylic Mini Museum to a group. Limit: Two per order.
Insect in Amber Specimens
Just like the Insect in Amber in the Large Mini Museum except ready to hold in your hand! The Insect in Amber specimen is a piece of real Baltic amber that is 40-60 million years old. Limit: One per order.
Special: Mini Museums with Anomalies
All Mini Museums are hand-made, so certain imperfections are to be expected. However, we do have a select number of Mini Museums with anomalies. They are 100% complete, limited edition, and still quite awesome. So, we have decided to offer these unique Mini Museums to the public at a small discount! The Large Mini Museum will be discounted $20 (USD), and Small and Medium sizes will be discounted ($10 USD).Anomalies may include (example images next week):
- Small fibers from the brushes used to apply adhesives to specimens
- Excessive dust
- Breakaway specimen fragments
- Extra specimens
- Significant bubbles
- Extreme specimen migration
- Artifacts from the acrylic curing process itself
Each anomaly is absolutely unique, so it is not possible to provide pictures of each Mini Museum. As noted above, we will have a few example images on the site next week.
Please note: Mini Museums with anomalies are sold as-is with no returns or exchanges allowed.
The sale will be Wednesday, April 8th at 5PM ET!
We will send another email on Monday, April 6th and a final reminder on April 8th. We are also posting details on Facebook and Twitter. Good luck, and don't forget to read the important purchasing information below!
Now it's back to work! :)
Important Purchasing Information
The Mini Museum is a hand made product and the production process lends itself to variations. All Mini Museums are sold "as-is" and by purchasing a Mini Museum, you acknowledge such variations will occur. There might be tiny air bubbles, or a specimen may be shaped and sized differently than the images on this page. Specimens and the limited edition label have also been known to shift or fragment slightly during the acrylic curing phase, which can cause variations in alignment and appearance. Such variations highlight the artisanal nature of this project, as each Mini Museum is made by hand and absolutely unique.
Frequently Asked Questions
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept VISA, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, Jcb, and Diners Club. We do not accept PayPal.
Do you require signatures on shipments?
Yes, where possible, we require signatures on all deliveries. The Mini Museum ships in a relatively small box and given the limited availability of the product, we want to be sure it arrives. If you will not be home to receive your Mini Museum, we recommend selecting an alternate delivery location where someone will be available to sign for the package.
Do you ship to APO/FPO addresses?
Yes! We use the US Postal Service to ship to members of the US Military and are proud to do so.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes! During our Kickstarter campaign, we shipped to 68 different countries around the world!
We recommend using FedEx for international shipments but we also offer US Postal Service for some countries as well (Priority Mail services ONLY). Shipping methods vary by country and pricing is determined at the time of the sale based on weight. We cannot provide a price quote for shipping prior to the sale, but on average, international shipping is between $30 and $60 depending on the location and method.
International Customs and Taxes (VAT)
As the purchaser of a Mini Museum, you will be responsible for all duties and taxes imposed on the import of the Mini Museum. The Mini Museum is an educational display and will be classified as such on import documentation. If you refuse customs/tax/VAT charges, your Mini Museum will be returned to us and we will not reship. Assuming the Mini Museum is not damaged, we will refund your purchase minus shipping charges.
Returns, Exchanges, and Refunds
General Returns and Exchanges: The Mini Museum is a limited edition collectible, and all Mini Museums are sold as-is. There are no exchanges available. However, if you are unhappy with your Mini Museum we can offer your a refund if you return your Mini Museum within 30 days of purchase. Please contact us prior to making a return.
Shipping Refunds: Please note that you will be responsible for paying for return shipping costs. We can provide you with a return label but the costs for return shipping will be deducted from your refund. Original shipping costs are also not refundable. If you select an express shipping method with "guaranteed delivery" time, we will not file a claim on your behalf if the delivery is not made on time.
Shipping Insurance: Every package we send is insured against loss and/or theft. If your package does not arrive, please contact us immediately and we will investigate. We will issue a refund after the investigation is complete, which depending on the destination could take several weeks.
