A piece of the Prehistoric Sea
Trilobite Fossil
No creature exemplified the diverse nature of life more than the trilobite. This class of arthropods formed a staggering amount of different species throughout the Cambrian Period. Today, over 5,000 different genera of trilobites have been discovered and named, with more surely waiting to be discovered.
This specimen is a trilobite from Morocco. Our material comes from Silurian and Devonian formations and date to 350,000,000-400,000,000 years old. Fossils measure roughly 5mm to 1cm in length, and each trilobite is secured in acrylic specimen jars and housed inside our classic, glass-topped riker display cases.
The genus is broadly categorized under Phacops. A small information card is also enclosed that also serves as the certificate of authenticity.
Fossilized Poop
Dinosaur Dung
Scientifically known as "coprolites," but commonly referred to as Dinosaur Dung, this is a fossilized dropping from a long necked sauropod found in Morrison Formation. It is attributed to a 150,000,000 year old sauropod, a long necked herbivorous dinosaur.
Over millions of years, minerals, such as chalcedony and quartz, replaced the original organic material. This process creates a rich, colorful matrix that allows us to study the diet and lifestyle of long-extinct creatures.
The specimen in this bundle measures roughly 0.75" in size and ship in one of our handsome, glass-topped riker display cases. An informational photo card is included inside the case.
An artist's interpretation of a prehistoric ammonite
Ammonite Fossil
Ammonites are an extinct group of cephalopods that entered the fossil record 400 million years ago. They survived several mass extinction events, including the Permian–Triassic "Great Dying" which wiped out 96% of all marine species. They finally succumbed during the Cretaceous-Paleogene extinction event 66 million years ago, which also wiped out the dinosaurs.
This specimen is a fossilized ammonite shell from Madagascar. It is split to reveal the internal spiral structure of the shell, where the prehistoric cephalopod lived.
3D-printed with real fossil material
Tyrant King Pocket Fossil
Measuring 40ft (12m) in length and weighing upwards of 14 tons, Tyrannosaurus rex was one of the largest and most powerful terrestrial predators in history. The most advanced in an 80 million year chain of tyrannosaurid evolution, T. rex had heavy, deep skulls reinforced with sutures, lightened by hollow chambers... and of course, big, sharp teeth! This item is a 3D-printed T. rex tooth infused with actual Tyrannosaurus rex fossil material.
Created here at Mini Museum, this is the very first 3D-printed dinosaur fossil infused with actual dinosaur fossil material. Well, at least the first that we know of!
The Tyrannosaurus rex fossil material in this specimen was recovered on private land in South Dakota from the Hell Creek Formation. As pictured, each 3D-printed tooth measures roughly 1" in length (26 mm). The top of the tooth is flat by design so that you can see inside the specimen.
BONUS! She Sold Seashells... AND DRAGONS: THE CURIOUS MARY ANNING. RE-IMAGINED.
"An ingenious project to bring Mary Anning to life." ~ Sir David Attenborough, renowned naturalist and broadcaster
This picture book is a bonus inclusion with each Future Paleontologist Fossil Bundle! Embark on a captivating journey into the life of Mary Anning, the groundbreaking paleontologist, with this beautifully-illustrated, hardbound book.
